Previously in Pearl Boy Chapter 78
In the prior chapter of Pearl Boy, Jooha is awakened by the sound of a phone conversation taking place directly in front of him as he lies in bed. Jooha approaches the man and recognizes him as the guy from the izakaya, the one with extensive facial tattoos. Jooha learns his name is Zen and overhears his conversation with Dooshik. Jooha also contacts Dooshik to inquire as to the significance of this and his whereabouts. Dooshik tells Jooha he’s sorry, but he had to take care of some things and had to send Zen to watch over Jooha.
Jooha takes offense to Dooshik’s comments and argues that he, too, needs to relax because both he and Dooshik have been injured deeply. When Jooha notices strange sounds in the background, Dooshik abruptly ends the connection. Jooha is worried that something terrible may happen again. Zen is aware of this, so he offers Jooha a drink to calm him down before instructing him to get some sleep, and some good food, and to get well soon so that he may collect his salary. He also requests that Jooha refrains from calling Dooshik unless it is an emergency.

Torture
As an alternative, Dooshik has Dae-Kwang kidnapped and watches as several of his men totally destroy him. Dooshik intended to forget the past and devote himself fully to Jooha, but he knows he must first confront his demons. Dooshik orders his soldiers to abuse Dae-Kwang sexually, just as he did Jooha during their lengthy ordeal of torture. Dae-Kwang collapses at Dooshik’s feet, defeated and broken, but Dooshik is not yet finished with him.
